Woman, What Have I to Do with Thee? (John 2:4)
QUESTION: In John 2:4, Jesus said to Mary "Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come." What does this mean? Was Jesus disrespecting His mother?
My response:
No He wasn't disrespecting her. The turning of the water into wine pictures the gospel. And the wedding already had wine-but ran out of it. Therefore there were two times wine was poured out. This pictures God's plan to pour out the Holy Spirit twice in the NT era. First, at Pentecost and throughout the Church Age.
And secondly, at the end of the Church Age (in the year 1994) which also was the time of Jesus' second coming as Judge. He began His end time judgment program as Judge of the world's churches officially in the year 1994. This was His hour or judgment that John 2:4 makes reference to. That judgment beginning on all the world's churches transitioned into the judgment for all the world on the date of May 21, 2011.
