All Men Have Not Faith – But It Was Given To A Few

2 Thessalonians 3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

The Bible teaches that "all men have NOT faith". This is because all men are born in sin and sin has brought spiritual death to all men. Therefore, all men possess dead spirits; they are ignorant and blind to the reality of the One True God of the Bible.

For men in such a spiritually dead condition moving towards the idea of atheism appears to be the obvious direction to go.

Curiously, others in the world, also possessing dead spirits, move in the direction of religion. Sizeable numbers of them even become very religious. But significantly, their movement towards religion is almost always a movement in the direction of false religion. False religion recognizes a god of sorts but man's spiritual dead condition results in the setting up of an equally dead idol as his god. In the past, men cut down trees and carved the image of their god, and then decked it with gold and silver and bowed down to worship it.

In more modern times, idol gods are carved out of man's vain imaginations.

Churches and congregations also have physical idols set up (pictures of Christ or images of Mary and saints) but mostly their idols are carved out of false doctrines and gospels arrived at by not following the Bible's own hermeneutic for coming to truth.

The religionist and the atheist both – as all other men – have not faith. Both follow lies. Both end up at the same destination (destruction).

A few, though, chosen out of the world by God, are granted faith (Christ) to see the reality of the Spirit God's existence and the reality of the spiritual truth found in His holy book (the Bible).

These few were elected by God (Ephesians 1:3-5) to obtain this faith. Since they too were born in sin and dead in spirit and of themselves had no faith – this means that God had to intervene in their lives and give them faith that they could never conjure up within themselves:

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Through the gift of the prism of faith, these blessed few individuals are able to "see" the reality of the Spirit God's existence.

Unfortunately, the giving of this gift of faith is no longer happening in the world. God completed His salvation program and has already bestowed the scepter of His grace upon His chosen few (the elect). This means the door of heaven has shut to the world. A great gulf has now been fixed wherein every human being's spiritual condition (dead spirits for the masses, living spirits for the few) has been eternally established and cannot change.
