Ten Items Against Vowel Points (pay close attention to #10)

1.Psalm 119 will not allow it. Psalm 119 lays out the Hebrew alphabet (all consonants, no vowel points). And an alphabet must be used to form words.

2. Overwhelmingly, secular and religious historians agree that the vowel points were added by the Masoretes between 6th and 10th centuries AD.

3. There is no record of vowel points in any ancient (O.T. side of the cross) Hebrew writings that have been found; nor in the early centuries of the N.T. era.

4. The Dead Sea scrolls (religious and secular writings) had no vowel points.

5. The Ketaf hinnom scrolls (earliest known Hebrew/Scripture writing dated around 600 BC) had no vowel points.

6. Vowel points are NOT an unsealed teaching brought forth by the Holy Spirit at the time of the end. The teaching that vowel points are inspired is a Church Age teaching (note: the books BMI has learned this issue from were published by Moody Bible Institute in 1980-several dozen contributors were Baptist ministers or seminary professors).

7. When Mr. Camping and EBF go to the Bible, we remove vowel points to get at actual word (consonants). This method has resulted in much truth being brought forth from the Bible. Therefore, the principle by their fruits ye shall know them has some application concerning the removing of vowel points. If they were inspired, no truth, but error, should be the result. However, this has not been the case.

8. Since this issue goes to the heart of what is the actual text of the Word of God, the Bible, it is a foundational issue effecting all O.T. Bible study. It is certain that the Lord would have brought forth a proper understanding of this BEFORE opening the Scriptures at the time of the end. And not have waited almost 30 years from 1994 to begin revealing it to His people.

9. Mater lectionis. Mater lectionis is the name given to some ancient Hebrew writings they've found wherein certain consonants (like the vav) were used as vowels. This use of consonants for vowels is called mater lectionis. These writings date before the Masoretes. If the vowel points were given to Moses then why did the Jewish people resort to using consonants as vowels when they simply could have used the vowel points? The answer is they knew nothing about the vowel points because they did not yet exist (until the time of the Masoretes).

10. Revelation 22:18. This is the big reason why we all should want nothing to do with thinking vowel points are inspire—and especially nothing to do with the idea they are actually words. How horrible to have escaped so many traps and snares over the years as church after church has added to the Word of God with visions, and dreams, and tongues – only to fall very close to the end by the trap of thinking vowel points are inspired and especially inspired words. What a tragedy.
