Every Knee is Currently Bowing before Christ
Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
In these verses the Bible tells us that at the time of Christ's coming in judgment on the world every knee should bow to Him. We have long thought this would be fulfilled in a literal sense. However, we must keep in mind that this Scripture is part of the Bible and the Bible is a spiritual book that hides truth.
When reading the Bible's words we must never seek to use the world's definitions for the words we are reading. But we are to always define the word we are studying by the Bible itself. In this case we are to search the Bible regarding the word "bow" and see what God's word has to say about it.
In the book of Judges we find a Scripture passage that uses the word “bow” 3 times and ties it together with other words that provide us with a very clear definition for the word bow:
Judges 5:27 At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.
This verse is recounting Jael's killing of the captain of an enemy host named Sisera. Jael killed Sisera by taking a nail of the tent and hammering it into his temple while he slept.
In this verse God is tying together the words "fell", "lay down" and "bow" together. What we learn by the use of these synonyms is that to "bow" is equivalent to death. Or to being slain while under the wrath of God.
Therefore, since God has shut the door on the date of May 21, 2011, and by taking that action has effectively slain all unsaved inhabitants of the earth, all the sinners of the nations have "bowed" down to Christ in spiritual death. Truly, then, at this time, we can Biblically say that every knee has bowed to Christ.
Addendum:
There is a Biblical definition to confessing (which is being under the wrath of God/baptized) just as there was a Biblical definition to knowing (Exodus 14:18 experiencing God's judgment is the same as knowing LORD), and there is also a Biblical definition to bowing down (which is to die). Here's another reference to bowing down that highlights the Biblical definition for bowing to be like death:
Psalm 22:29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
All that go down to the dust will bow before God. When does man go down to the dust? That happens once he dies:
Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Man goes to the dust when he dies. Therefore, we see further confirmation that to bow down before God has to do with death.
